The Bucks County Department of Health conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 5/27/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Market at Styer Orchards was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 3 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- The bread slicer (which has been used today per employees), that is located in the back deli prep room has many rodent droppings in it. This unit is not approved for use until it has been disassembled, and properly washed, rinsed and sanitized. New Violation.
- Open air retail service refrigerator has an ambient temperature of 50°F. All prepared salads and wraps have been removed from this unit. Do not use it for storage of any time/temperature controlled for safety foods until it is maintaining ambient temperature at or below 41°F at all times. New Violation.
- The following areas in this facility have evidence of pest activity:
*back deli prep room; on shelves with condiments and canned goods, at floor/wall junctures, in cabinets under bread slicer, in corners
*in front deli service area by hot food prep at floor/wall junctures
*in cabinets under chili and soup hot holding units
*in bakery area; in cabinet under the hand sink across from the ice cream dipping cabinet, at floor/ wall junctures under the 3-compartment sink, behind and adjacent to the floor mixer
*under, behind and adjacent to the prep table just outside of the walk-in freezer, 2×4 wall support in this area
*several doors and garage type doors to the outside from this facility are left open; close them and keep them closed; install door sweeps at the bottoms of all doors to the outside where there are significant air gaps (1/4″ gaps), to eliminate the gaps
*there are piles of lumber and wood against the building outside behind the facility. Discard them or store them away from the building and off of the ground. They create harborage conditions for rodents and other vectors.
Remove all droppings located inside the building and thoroughly clean all affected areas.
Contact your exterminator for increased monitoring and service. Repeat Violation. To be Corrected By: 05/28/2020
