The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 6/8/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Italian Civic Club was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 5 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Mashed potatoes in the refrigerator, container of flour in the dry pantry room, and a container of soup in the walk-in cooler not covered and protected from potential contamination. Corrected during inspection.
  • Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food (mashed potatoes) prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the refrigerator, is not being date marked.
  • Main door located in the kitchen of the food facility has a gap and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals. PIC stated they have a scheduled appointment to get it replaced.
  • Interior of the ice machine, a food contact surface, has an accumulation of black residue and not clean to the sight or touch.
  • An exhaust fan in the kitchen has an accumulation of dust and needs to be cleaned.
