The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 4/14/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Firehouse Subs was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 4 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- Observed a buildup on the deflector shield and the ice hopper of the ice machine, a food contact surface. Machine was turned off and may not be used until it has been clean and sanitized.
- The food facility does not have the original certificate for the certified food employee posted in public view.
- Loose rubber door gaskets observed on the Artic Air upright freezer.
- The quaternary ammonia concentration from the automatic dispenser in the sanitizing solution of the 3-bay warewash sink and sanitizing bucket was 50 ppm, rather than 200-400 ppm as stated on the manufacturers use directions. Additional sanitizer was added.
