The Borough of Chambersburg conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/8/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Red Lobster was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 13 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Observed the can opener in the prep area does not allow removal of the blade for cleaning.
  • Ice machine interior bin, a food contact surface, was observed to have build-up or mold and was not clean to sight and touch.
  • Observed seafood in the walk-in area stored open with no covering.
  • Observed several food items stored directly on the floor in stockroom area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required.
  • Frozen foods observed not maintained in a frozen state in the stand up freezer.
  • Non-food contact surfaces, such as refrigerators, shelves, floor, floor drains, and shelves in the walk-in were not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil.
  • The handwash sink located in the men’s bathroom does not have water at a temperature of at least 100 °F.
  • Light cover is missing in the storage room and walk-in freezer.
  • Facility does not have procedures for employees to follow when responding to an event involving vomitus or fecal matter discharge onto surfaces within the facility.
  • Observed broken and cracked door seals on the under the counter refrigerator.
  • Observed food employee was not using available sanitizer test strips to determine sanitizer concentration.
  • Seafood and prepped items, potentially hazardous ready to eat foods requiring date marking, in the walk-in area, were not date marked, or were beyond the date-marking and requires discarding.
  • Observed old unused equipment stored in stockroom area and should be removed.
