Inspection China Sun in Bensalem finds dead mouse in pan of water on floor catching a leak, Evidence of baiting with peanuts was observed

The Bucks County Health Department conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 9/2/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations China Sun was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 9 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

Rear handwashing sink not supplied with soap. Paper towels should be stored in a way to prevent recontamination of hands.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
Sauce was being stored uncovered on floor next to mop sink. Discarded immediately.
Boxed chicken wings were stored on floor of walk-in.Food must be tightly covered and stored at least 6 inches off floor.  Corrected On-Site.  Repeat Violation.
Many food items were uncovered in prep areas, in refrigerated units, and in storage areas. All food items should be tightly covered at all times. Employees immediately began to wrap food upon arrival before requesting.  Corrected On-Site.  Repeat Violation.
*Several food storage bins near 3-bay sink were not clean to sight and touch. Container used for flour for batter was unclean. Flour was discarded.  Repeat Violation.
Food on display does not have a time on them when they are to be sold by or discarded. If time–rather than temperature–is used as the public health control the food shall be marked or otherwise identified to indicate the time that is 4 hours past the point in time when the food is removed from temperature control.
Wings, breaded chicken, egg rolls, garlic in oil, and wontons were being controlled for safety by time but not labeled. All time/temperature controlled for safety (TCS) foods that are controlled for safety by time will be marked to show the time they will be discarded, which must be 4 hours or less after removing item from temperature control.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
Dead mouse observed in pan of water on floor that is catching a leak. Droppings found in same storage area. Evidence of baiting with peanuts was observed. All pest control must be performed by a PA-licensed certified pesticide applicator.
Record present for pest control company from 8/12/20.Notify pest control company of findings. Clean and sanitize affected area in storage room. Have pest control company treat accordingly.  Repeat Violation.
Utensils used for serving rice are stored in water at room temperature. Utensils that are being held for reuse must either be:
-on a clean, sanitized surface or container or
-must be held in water greater than 135°F or
-must be stored in fresh running water that will allow loose particles to float off and away.  New Violation.

Single-use takeout containers used as scoops. All scoops must have handles that protrude above food.

Soy sauce bucket being reused to store wontons. Original containers can only be used until the product is finished, then it must be discarded.  New Violation.

*Leak present in pipes near floor in storage room. Repair immediately and present receipt/work order to this Department.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 09/07/2020
Several items require thorough cleaning to prevent accumulation of food debris and attraction of pests/disease vectors:

– Floor in storage area
– Floor under fryers
