The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/29/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Franzones Pizzeria was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 18 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

Employee beverage stored on food prep surface in kitchen.

Raw eggs stored over ready-to-eat items in 2-door cooler.

Facility lacking visible accurate thermometers in several cold units.

Insect control device mounted above hand sink in basement.
-
Rodent-like droppings observed throughout facility. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH.

Light and air space at bottom/side of exterior rear door in kitchen.
-
Bowl used as scoop in secondary sugar container in basement.
-
Damaged door gasket on walk-in cooler in basement and on chest freezer in basement.

Fan guard lacking in 2-door cooler in basement.

Dish machine leaks while in operation.
-
Dust build-up on fan guards in multiple refrigerated units.
-
Racks unclean in hallway storage area and in kitchen.
-
Men’s and women’s restroom doors propped open at time of inspection.
-
Floor unclean in basement storage area.
-
Stained ceiling tiles in basement food prep area.
-
3 times repeat violation: Floor unclean under cooks line equipment. Failure to correct and maintain violation may result in legal action, including closure.

End caps lacking for light shield in basement food prep area.

Grease build-up on hood filters above fryers.
