The Allegheny County Health Department’s Food Safety Program conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/31/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Marriott City Center Banquet Hall was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 5 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- There is heavy accumulation of grease and old food debris between the range and oven at the cook line.
- The hand sink is leaking at the drain. The seal appears to be damaged.
- There are 2 dead German cockroaches on the floor: one near the prep table and one in the mop sink room. Facility receives monthly pest control services and there is no other evidence of pest activity.
- There are numerous boxes of food on the floor in the walk in freezer.
- There is a heavy build-up of ice on the boxes of food in the walk in freezer. If this food is to be used, ensure there had been no contamination of the food within the boxes.
- There is a missing ceiling tile in the kitchen area, near the ventilation hood.
- In the mop sink room, there is a large gap in the ceiling where overhead lines are visible. There is a grease-like substance dripping from the exhaust system that originates from the ventilation hood. Operator called for service during inspection.
