The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 4/13/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Subway in Grindstone, Fayette County was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 3 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- Observed the bulk ice machine has a heavy build up of black slimy residue. Machine was shut down and all ice is to be discarded. Unit is not allowed to be used unit it has been cleaned and sanitized. This is the third time in the last 4 years the unit has failed.
- Food facility has lost its certified food employee over 3 months ago and has not replaced the certified food employee as required.
- The Food Facility Operator shall be the Person in Charge or shall designate a Person in Charge and shall ensure that a Person in Charge is present at the food facility during all hours of operation.
