The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture  conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/27/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Ramada by Wyndham Greensburg Hotel & Conference Center was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 12 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not functioning in the outside walk in cooler.
  • Data plate summarizing operating specifications is unreadable. A ware washing machine shall be provided with an easily accessible and readable data plate affixed to the machine by the manufacturer that indicates the machine’s design and operating specifications, including the following: (1) Temperatures required for washing, rinsing and sanitizing. (2) Pressure required for the fresh water sanitizing rinse. (3) Conveyor speed for conveyor machines. REPEAT VIOLATION (3/18/19)
  • Condensate drainage and other non-sewage liquids shall be drained from point of discharge to disposal. Observed heavy ice build up on floor of walk in freezer. 3RD REPEAT VIOLATION (3/18/19 & 4/18/19)
  • Observed a heavy accumulation of bottle caps, paper, drink stirrers, black filth, and stagnant water behind and underneath equipment in bar area.
  • Observed slimy, stagnant water, old beer and food debris in the reach in keg cooler in the bar area of the food facility and in need of cleaning.
  • The quaternary ammonia concentration in the sanitizing solution of the 3-bay ware wash sink was 0 ppm, rather than 200-400 ppm as stated on the manufacturers use directions.
  • 3 of 3 mixers had food residue underneath the mixing arm and back splash guard surfaces and is not being cleaned at a frequency to preclude dust, dirt and dried food accumulation.
  • Observed an accumulation of pink slime inside soda fountain nozzles and holsters in bar area. In equipment such as beverage dispensing nozzles and distribution lines, beverage and syrup dispensing lines or tubes, surfaces of utensils and equipment contacting food that is not potentially hazardous shall be cleaned as follows: At a frequency specified by the manufacturer and at a frequency necessary to preclude mold/filth.
  • The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. 4TH REPEAT VIOLATION (2/21/17, 3/7/18 & 3/18/19)
  • The hot water used for sanitizing in the mechanical ware washing machine did not reach 180°F (or 165°F for stationary rack).
  • Observed heavy food debris accumulation on the sides & top of food preparation equipment. REPEAT VIOLATION (3/18/19)
  • Hidden employee food and refuse throughout facility is not being stored in receptacles or waste handling units that are inaccessible to insects and rodents.
  • Trash receptacle / waste handling unit outside does not have a tight-fitting lid or cover.
  • No sign or poster posted at the handwash sink in the bar area to remind food employees to wash their hands. 3RD REPEAT VIOLATION (3/7/18 & 3/18/19)
