The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/6/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Los Gemelos Family Restaurante was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 12 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility currently operating without a license. Facility must submit $350 license fee and $31 NSF. Facility stated sent check approximately 2 weeks ago, EHS to follow up.

  • Two kitchen hand sink basins blocked and inaccessible. Remove items from basin and ensure hand sinks are accessible at all times.

  • Heavy cream with sell by date of 2/23. Do not use or sell.

  • Date marking lacking on foods in refrigeration. All food prepped on site and held longer than 24 hours must be date marked and discarded after 7 days.

  • Shrimp thawing in stagnant water. Foods must be thawed in refrigeration at 41F or below, under cold running water, or as part of the cooking process.

  • Food uncovered in walk-in cooler. Unsealed bags of rice in dry storage. Cover/seal to prevent contamination.

  • Pot of cooked beans stored on floor. Store 6 inches off floor. Facility moved.

  • Improper scoops in dry goods. Ensure scoops have proper handles.

  • Shelves in walk-in cooler unclean with food-like and dust-like buildup. Clean.

  • No water at kitchen hand sink. Facility has 2 other sinks with adequate hot and cold water. Repair within 24 hours, EHS to follow up.

  • Floors around equipment unclean. Clean.

  • Hood filters unclean with grease-like buildup. Clea.
