The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/6/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations MaGerks Pub and Grill in Fort Washington was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 14 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

This most recent inspection marks the ninth straight inspection MaGerk’s Pub and Grill has failed to be found, “in compliance” by inspectors:

  • October 17, 2016- 9 violations
  • January 13, 2017- 19 violations
  • August 1, 2017- 9 violations
  • March 26, 2018- 18 violations
  • April 30, 2018- 2 violations
  • October 2, 2018- 16 violations
  • May 21, 2019- 17 violations
  • December 23, 2019- 13 violations

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Employee meal at cook line.
  • Food slicer splash guard, bulk ice machine splash guard and wait staff ice bins unclean.
  • Cutting boards at prep units with discoloration and grooves.
  • Food items stored in steam tables with internal temperature less than 135 degrees F. Facility reheated with in time and temperature requirements.
  • Food items stored in steam tables with internal temperature less than 135 degrees F. Facility reheated with in time and temperature requirements.
  • TCS food items stored in prep unit at cook line observed with internal temperature greater than 41 degrees F. Facility voluntarily discarded at TCS food items in prep unit.
  • Prep unit on cook line unable to hold TCS food at proper internal temperature. Facility may not use equipment for holding TCS foods until repaired and given written permission from MCOPH. Send completion work order stating internal temperature to MCOPH
  • Lacking visible accurate thermometers in refrigeration unit.
  • Air space at bottom of newly installed back exit door.
  • Personal items stored on dry storage rack in ice machine area.
  • Rust build up on racks in prep unit on cook line.
  • Table-top under flat top griddle unclean.
  • Leak at pipe under 3 compartment ware wash sink.
  • Outside grease dumpster lacking lid.
