Maguires Market in Ambler fouls inspection; Fly-like insects observed throughout facility, Montco threatens legal action for 4 times repeat violation

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/30/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Maguire’s Market was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 10 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • EHS observed employees without proper face coverings at time of inspection.
  • Lacking single service towels for hand sink.

  • Raw shelled eggs stored over ready to eat food in 4 door reach-in cooler

  • (Repeat times repeat violation) Proper date marking lacking on prepared food items in secondary containers and/or packaging. Failure to comply may lead to further legal action taken in accordance with law by MCOPH

  • Chemical spray bottle lacking label

  • Back door propped open upon arrival

  • Fly-like insects observed throughout the facility. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH

  • Food handler lacking hair restraint

  • Aluminum foil lining trays where utensils are stored

  • Dust build-up on fan guards in walk-in cooler

  • Missing floor tile underneath table where coffee maker is located.
