The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture¬† conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/20/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Mama Pepino’s Pizza was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 5 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Food facility has an employee who held a Certified Food Manager certificate; however, the certificate has expired and is no longer valid.
  • Deli slicer, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. Cleaning to be made within 4 days.
  • Mixer, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. Observed encrusted flour and grease residue. Cleaning to be made within 4 days.
  • Observed bulk onions stored directly on the floor in walk in cooler area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required.
  • Commercially processed refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food (deli meats and cheeses), located in the prep cooler, and held more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened.
  • Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. Observed an accumulation of dust and soil on the top of the pizza oven. Cleaning to be made within 4 days.
