Masontown Pizza Hut fumbles inspection; Black and pink slimy residue on the underside of the water reservoir in ice machine

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/16/2020 As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Pizza Hut was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 3 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Observed the caulking along the back splash of the 3 bowl sink has a build up of black slimy residue embedded in the caulking. Needs to be replaced. REPEAT VIOLATION
  • Observed the walls throughout the kitchen have old splattered food residue. Observed the floor in the kitchen and walk in cooler/freezer has a build up of dirt.
  • Observed there is black and pink slimy residue on the underside of the water reservoir. Unit was shut down, all ice is to be discarded and unit is not allowed to be used until it has been cleaned and sanitized.
  • Observed the underside of the lid for the pizza prep station has old splattered food along the top and sides.
  • Observed the inside of the 3 bowl sink has a build up of brown residue. The sink needs to be scrubbed out.
