The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/29/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Sunoco was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 8 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
- Observed food and drinks stored directly on the floor in dry storage area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required.
- Working containers used for storing chemicals/cleaners taken from bulk supplies, were not marked with the common name of the chemical.
- Nozzles and surrounding area of cappuccino machine, a food contact surface, was observed to have old food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
- Observed hose being stored in the handwash sink, indicating uses other than handwashing.
- The handwash sink does not have single use towels or continuous towels.
- Observed 10-15 rodent droppings surrounding utility sink and in dry storage area.
