The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on November 18, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the NAME was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 18 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Hand sink in kitchen observed with low water pressure. Obstructed by a large trash container, relocated.
  • (Repeat violation) Lacking paper towels at hand sink in kitchen.
  • (Repeat violation) Hand sink not available in front pizza/sandwich prep area. Facility has only one hand sink, which is located more than 20 feet away from front prep areas. Door way present in between front and back areas. Facility had until 11/9/19 to comply. Facility given one extra month to comply. Note: Repeat violations may lead to legal actions and the issuance of a citation.
  • Can opener blade observed with food debris, unclean.
  • 3-compartment sink observed with standing water and not draining. Owner stated that issue started this morning. All foods prepared earlier in the morning were voluntarily discarded; 7 pizza pies, calzones, and reheated sauces.
  • Prepared TCS foods (precooked chicken) held in facility for more than 24 hours and stored in walk-in refrigerator missing discard date markings. Label should indicate the date by which the food shall be consumed on the premises, sold or discarded; date not to exceed 7 days.
  • (Repeat violation) Gap observed along lower edge of back door does not prevent rodents and insects
  • Mice-like droppings observed on floor in public restrooms, under shelves storing sodas in hallway. Clean and sanitize all affected areas and have licensed pest control service. Send pest control report to MCOPH within 10 business days, email provided. Pest control report must state treatment and target pest.
  • (Repeat violation)Facility lacking a prep sink with an air gap of at least 1 inch. Facility had until 11/9/19 to comply. Provide work order including estimated date of completion. Facility given one extra month to comply. Note: Failure to comply may lead to legal actions and the issuance of a citation.
  • 3-compartment sink observed with standing cloudy water. Facility was able to cleaned and sanitized all basins after getting drains to work.
  • (Repeat violation) Grease trap observed rusted and with debris buildup.
  • White substance accumulation observed on walk-in refrigerator shelves.
  • (Repeat violation) Facility lacking a mop sink. Install a mop sink that allows disposal of mop water in a sanitary manner that will not contaminate any food or food equipment. Facility had until 11/9/19 to comply. Provide work order including estimated date of completion. Facility given one extra month to comply. Note: Failure to comply may lead to legal actions and the issuance of a citation.
  • At time of inspection facility was found with clogged drains under 3-compartment sink. All basins filled with water and not draining. Facility voluntarily closed at time of inspection. Update: Plumbing company on-site, plumber stated that there pipe near grease trap was clogged, drains were cleared out and water was observed draining freely. Facility granted permission to open and operate at time of inspection contingent upon all other necessary approvals.
  • Walls surrounding large pizza oven lacking a smooth surface. Owner indicated that walls were left unfinished after removing old pizza oven.
  • Raw wood observed on edges of newly installed front counter. Provide a surface that is smooth, non-absorbent, and easily cleanable.
  • Door frame to kitchen observed with peeling paint and unfinished surfaces. Provide a surface that is smooth, non-porous and easily cleanable.
  • Some ceiling tiles in kitchen observed with a porous surface. Provide ceiling tiles that are smooth, non-absorbent, and easily cleanable.
