Panera Bread Wynnewood fumbles 7th straight inspection also cited for operating without current license

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/12/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Panera Bread Wynnewood was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 5 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

This marks the seventh inspection with at least one Food Borne Illness Risk Factor cited by MCOPH last passing an inspection on July 17, 2017:

  • Jul 19, 2017- Facility has completed renovations and are obtaining an opening inspection from MCHD. MCHD grants facility permission to open and operate at time of inspection contingent upon all other necessary approvals.
  • Jan 5, 2018- 4 violations
  • Jan 17, 2019- 6 violations
  • Apr 26, 2019- Complaint leads to 11 violations
  • Jul 3, 2019- 6 violations
  • Jan 13, 2020- 5 violations

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility operating without a current MCOPH license. Facility has 5 business days to submit license invoice and appropriate fee. License invoice left at time of inspection
  • Lacking single service towels for front counter bread area hand sink.
  • Dust build-up on the ceiling tiles in the front counter bread area and the backroom ware wash area (Risk of dust landing on food contact surfaces and food)
  • Dust build-up on the right side wall behind the dish machine
  • Dust accumulating on the ceiling vents in the backroom ware wash area
