The Bucks County Department of Health conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 4/3/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Piazza’s Bakery was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 5 violations were found.

This most recent inspection represents the fourth straight time the bakery has been cited as, “Out of Compliance by the Bucks County Health Department:

  • Oct 9, 2018- 7 violations including being cited for the presence of fruit flies
  • Apr 10, 2019- 6 violations
  • Oct 16, 2019- 4 violations

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Upon BCDH inspector arrival, handwash sink nearest the employee restroom contained soiled utensils.
    CFSM removed utensils during inspection. Clean and sanitize affected sink.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Raw, animal-derived Time/Temperature Control for Safety (TCS) products (eggs) were found being stored directly over ready to eat foods in the sliding glass door refrigerator.
    Raw, animal-derived TCS products must be stored below ready to eat foods.  New Violation.
  • Large wood block cutting board contains many non-food related items. All items unnecessary to food preparation must be kept in an area designated for such, to prevent contamination.
    Clean and sanitize cutting board.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 04/03/2020
  • 1. Screening on each of the side facility doors, is torn and not providing adequate insect/vector protection.
    Repair screening and properly align doors.
    2. Fruit flies were observed in various areas of bakery.
  • Numerous cardboard, paper and other recyclable items are strewn throughout the property.
    Clean affected area and properly dispose of recyclables. Keep dumpster lids closed.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 04/03/2020
