The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 8, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Ryan’s Creek House was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 3 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- Observed food cases stored directly on the floor in walk in cooler and freezer, and near fry cutter rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. COS (corrected on-site)
- Ice machine was observed to have excessive scaling, pink slime and black filth on the front bib, water tray and top guard. DO NOT USE UNTIL MACHINE HAS BEEN CLEANED AND SANITIZED. Use bagged ice until machine has been cleaned and sanitized
- Can opener, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. COS
- Facility is using unapproved for food facility use HotShot fly strips in the bar area. COS
