The Montgomery County Health Department conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 1/25/21. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Plaza Azteca was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 15 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility lacking a Certified Food Sanitation Manager (CFSM) issued by Montgomery County Office of Public Health (MCOPH) or previous certificate has expired. Facility must submit application and payment OR proof of registration in an approved course with in 10 business days.

  • Employee beverage stored on food prep surface.

  • Lacking single service towels for hand sink.

  • Bar hand wash sink blocked

  • Raw chicken food stored over raw beef walk-in refrigerator

  • Interior of ice machine unclean

  • 2 containers of cooked rice stored at room temp overnight (voluntarily discarded)

  • Facility thawing frozen food items in stagnant water.

  • Food items stored in open original aluminum can

  • Food handler lacking hair/beard restraint

  • Knife stored in space between prep unit and counter.

  • Employee improper set up of 3 bay ware wash sinks(inspector explained proper set up)

  • Dust build-up fan guards walk-in refrigerator

  • (3 times repeat violation) Lacking light shield or shatterproof bulb

  • Filters above cook line equipment missing (facility is currently cleaning)
