Rodent droppings found during inspection of Acme in Bala Cynwyd, 5 violations

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on December 20, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Acme Market in Bala was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 5 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Improper date marking for shellstock tags after product has been consumed/sold.
  • Mouse like droppings observed under shelving in produce prep room in basement area. Clean and sanitize area. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH
  • Insect control devices stored over hand wash sinks in deli area.
  • Leak at hot water faucet in upstairs produce prep room.
  • Floors unclean in chicken prepared food area and water pooling on floor in chicken prepared food area.
