Rodent-like droppings observed throughout facility; King Buffet at Plymouth Meeting Mall fails inspection, 17 violations

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on November 14, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the NAME was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 17 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Hand sink obstructed at time of inspection.
  • Can opener blade unclean.
  • In-use utensils stored in stagnant water in between uses.
  • Lacking paper towels at waitress station.
  • Raw eggs stored over ready to eat food items.
  • Splash guard of ice machine unclean. Clean and sanitize according to owner’s manual.
  • Food items at hot holding unit observed with an internal temperature less than 135F. Facility removed and discarded.
  • Low water level at hot buffet bar, hot foods not holding proper temperature.
  • Facility thawing frozen fish and imitation crab meat at room temperature.
  • Lacking thermometer in waitress station cooler.
  • Common name label lacking on squeeze bottles at cooks line.
  • Rodent-like droppings observed throughout facility. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH.
  • Back door propped open upon arrival (allows access of animals and insects)
  • Food stored on floor in several walk in coolers.
  • Hot water valve shut off to sinks in public restrooms.
  • Men’s Restroom door lacking self-closing mechanism.
  • Grease buildup on floor behind cooks line.
