The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/26/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Roots Real Food Real Beer in East Norriton was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 8 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility not dating shell stock tags after product has been consumed/sold(2xR)

  • Interior back of ice machine at bar unclean

  • Chlorine level at bar glass ware dish machine not able to sanitize correctly. Facility was instructed to not use until work invoice is submitted to MCOPH

  • Lacking accurate visible thermometer inside cold units at bar(R)

  • Squeeze bottle of Vaseline stored on food storage shelf in kitchen next to food product

  • Chlorine sanitizer at bar glass dish machine not reaching 50-100 ppm. Facility may not use unit until it sanitizes at proper chlorine levels of 50-100 ppm and work invoice with sanitizer levels for chlorine is submitted to MCOPH. 

  • Wall paint peeling in kitchen by food prep sink

  • Dust build up on ceiling vent in men’s public rest room
