The Bucks County Department of Health conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/11/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Saladworks was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 4 violations were found including 3 food borne illness risk factor violations.

This marks the eighteenth, “Out of Compliance” since the current owners took over in 2012. In Pennsylvania any cited Food Borne Risk Factor  violations constitutes an “Out of Compliance” inspection:

  • May 16, 2012- change of ownership inspection- 3 violations
  • Oct 18, 2012- 6 violations

  • Sep 26, 2013- 6 violations

  • Apr 9, 2014- Compliance # (2) Inspection- There are no Bucks county certified employees for this facility. All certificates have expired. Immediately register for classes and provide written documention. Repeat Violation. To be Corrected By: 04/15/2014

  • Oct 12, 2016- 7 violations
  • Oct 21, 2016-Follow-up Compliance # (1) Inspection- 2 violation
  • Apr 18, 2017- 5 violations

  • Apr 3, 2018- 5 violations
  • Oct 2, 2018- 3 violations
  • Apr 22, 2019- PASSED with 3 lower level violations
  • Oct 8, 2019- 3 violations

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • There is no food safety manager certified by this Department (CFSM) on duty as required. A CFSM must be on duty at all times the facility is open and/or food is being prepared. A completed application(SA-71)for CFSM, or proof of enrollment in an approved safety class must be submitted to the Department.  New Violation.
  • Observed employee washing parts for the slicer in 100ºF water. Water must be 110ºF or above. Water was drained and refilled during the inspection. Corrected On-Site. New Violation.
  • Chicken salad and Turkey are not at safe temperatures in the prep top unit. Time/temperature control for safety (TCS) food must be cold held at or below 41ºF. Over filling wells in the prep top will prevent foods from maintaining 41ºF or below.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 03/12/2020  
  • Observed knife stored in the display case against the wall. This is not an approved location to store utensils. Utensils must be stored in a clean and dry container.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
