The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 6/24/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Slack’s Hoagie Shack was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 3 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility lacking a current MCOPH Certified Food Sanitation Manager certificate. Facility has full time employee with current food managers certification and must renew.

  • Loaf of turkey wrapped in cloth rag in chest freezer.

  • Vinyl flooring at grill area beginning to ware with large holes with exposed sub-floor. Repair to make smooth and non-porous.

Slack’s Hoagie Shack has a not passed an inspection since, at least, December 2016 according to reporting from The Philadelphia Inquirer:

  • Dec 22, 2016- 13 violations including 4 food borne risk factor violations.
  • Jun 15, 2017- 7 violations with 2 borne risk factor violations.
  • Nov 13, 2017- 9 violations with 2 borne risk factor violations.
  • May 18, 2018- 10 violations with 3 borne risk factor violations.
  • Oct 25, 2018- 8 violations with 2 borne risk factor violations.
  • Apr 11, 2019- 7 violations with 4 borne risk factor violations.
