State Inspector: Belle Vernon McDonald’s fumbles 3rd inspection in 2020; Small amount of dead gnat-like insects in dining room on one window sill

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/5/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the McDonald’s was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 1 violations was found.

The inspector made the following statement in the report:

This report is a follow-up to complaint #16978 inspection of a retail food facility dine in/take out restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees. Report has been reviewed with the person in charge (Anthony Mattie – General Manager) who acknowledged receipt of this report. The person-in-charge stated that this report will be provided to the owner for review. Digital photography was used in this inspection to support the above noted violation (37).

A SECOND WARNING LETTER IS REQUESTED, A PRIOR WARNING LETTER WAS REQUESTED FOR THIS FACILITY ON 2-27-2020. UPON RECEIPT OF A WARNING LETTER, PLEASE PROVIDE THE DEPT. WRITTEN CONFIRMATION OF THE STEPS TAKEN OR TO BE TAKEN TO CORRECT EACH VIOLATION MENTIONED ONLY FROM THE WARNING LETTER RECEIVED. A FOLLOW UP INSPECTION WILL BE CONDUCTED WITHIN 10 BUSINESS DAYS.*

The Retail Food Facility license will not be renewed until such time as this facility is compliant as per ยง46.1143 of the Food Code regulations and this facility may be subject to $150 or $300 inspection fees if a 2nd or 3rd follow-up inspection is necessary to achieve compliance.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Small amount of dead gnat-like insects in dining room on one window sill. Pest control company visits weekly (today was last visit) and will continue to visit to treat issue. REPEAT VIOLATION (1-3-20, 2-27-20
