Storing pizza boxes on the floor, Domino’s in Elkins Park slapped with 23 Health Department inspection violations, no soap at hand kitchen sink

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on February 3, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Dominos Pizza Elkins Park was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 23 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Current food operational license not posted in public view.

  • Sign stating that inspection reports are available upon request is not posted in facility. Sign was emailed during inspection. Facility to post in public view.

  • Facility lacking a CFSM certificate with MCOPH. Facility was granted 6 months from change of ownership to obtain (by 9/23/19). Facility is granted 10 business days to apply or provide proof of course enrollment to fax or email provided. Application emailed during inspection. Failure to comply will result in citation.

  • Employee beverage container stored in 2 door tall refrigerator.

  • No hand wash reminder signs are posted at either front or back kitchen area hand washing sinks.

  • No soap provided at front kitchen area hand wash sink.

  • No paper towels provided at front kitchen area hand wash sink.

  • Front kitchen area hand wash sink observed heavily soiled with rags stored in basin.

  • Front kitchen area hand wash sink observed with water turned off and pipe disconnected from sink. A 24-hour follow-up inspection will be conducted to verify sink is in proper working order.

  • No paper towels provided at back kitchen area hand wash sink.

  • No soap provided at employee restroom hand wash sink.

  • No hand wash reminder sign is posted in employee restroom.

  • Stacks of pizza boxes stored directly on floor in kitchen area.

  • Front kitchen area hand washing sink and employee restroom hand washing sink need to be resealed to the wall.

  • Absorbent foam material observed on left side of walk-in refrigerator door frame.

  • No covered trash can provided in unisex employee restroom.

  • Exterior dumpster lids open during inspection.

  • Exterior dumpster area observed overflowing with excessive amount of trash around dumpsters.

  • Wall tiles missing around front kitchen area hand washing sink. A follow up inspection will be conducted within 10 business days to verify all work has been completed.

  • 55 – physical facilities installed, maintained, and clean

    Comments: Cove base tiles missing throughout kitchen areas of facility. A follow-up inspection will be conducted within 10 business days to verify all work has been completed.

  • Employee restroom found to be heavily soiled with construction materials stored inside of bathroom.

  • Wall damage observed at corner of wall to right of mop sink. Provide smooth, non-porous, easily cleanable surface.

  • Ceiling light lacking light shield or shatter resistant bulbs above 3 compartment sink.
