The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/26/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Subway was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 4 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Black filth observed on the interior of the ice machine bin. DO NOT USE. Please empty ice machine COMPLETELY!! Wash, Rinse and Sanitize all parts and allow to air dry before refilling. This machine WAS NOT cleaned during the time of this inspection and bagged ice will be utilized until approval is obtained.
  • Several tiles in 3-part sink are worn away exposing wood sub-floor. REPEAT VIOLATION (10/2/19)
  • Wall/trim in the prep area is not fixed to wall, hanging loose and in need of repair.
  • One spray bottle with blue liquid not labeled. Two spray bottles hanging off of shelf in close proximity to clean small wares. Corrected. REPEAT VIOLATION (10-2-19)
  • Salami and provolone cheese at 50F in line cold wells. Products filled above chill line one hour ago. Top product removed and placed in walk-in cooler to chill. Corrected.
