Sultan Indian Cuisine in North Wales hit by Health Department, “Mold like growth observed on interior of ice machine,” 6 violations

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/10/2020.  As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Sultan Indian Cuisine was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Raw food items stored above ready to eat food items at multiple refrigeration units in back prep area.

  • Mold like growth observed on interior of ice machine. Facility instructed to breakdown and clean/sanitize unit in accordance with manufactures guidelines/manual.

  • TCS food items stored at food prep cooler at cooks line observed above an approved cold holding temperature – items observed between 49 – 52F. Facility voluntarily discarded contents of unit. 1 containers each of chicken/lamb/goat/vegetables/paste of ginger and garlic/raw onions/peppers/onion gravy/tomato puree/tomato soup/chicken soup.

  • Facility food prep refrigerator unable to maintain an approved cold holding temperature – 49F. Facility has voluntarily taken unit out of service during time of inspection – facility is not permitted to place unit back into operation with written permission from MCOPH. Facility instructed to provide work order stating repairs as well as new and approved cold holding temperature MCOPH – facility provide EHS email as well as fax number.

  • Facility lining equipment on cooks line in foil.

  • Mop head stored drying bucket.
