The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/19/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations The Allways Café was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Baby spinach stored in container at cooks line with no temperature control. Facility placed container in prep refrig unit.
  • Facility with inadequate date markings on prepared foods. Foods prepared and stored for longer than 24 hours requires discard dates that may not exceed 7 days from preparation date. Facility using day stickers and lacking actual dates.
  • Dead Roach like insect observed on floor at threshold to walk in refrigerator and on glue boards throughout facility. Facility must have licensed pest control for target pest and email work order within 10 business days.
  • Food handler lacking hair/beard restraint.
  • 2 times repeat violation:Grease buildup observed on cooking equipment at cook’s line; deep fryers, grill, and table under grill.
  • Hood filters and Drip tray observed with Dripping grease accumulation. EHS contacted Lower Moreland Twp fire dept at time of inspection.
