The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 6/10/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations The Back Porch Fine Dining was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations on January 8, 2019. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.

The restaurant also failed to be found, “In Compliance” at its last regular inspection being cited with 3 violations. “Out of Compliance” means one or more “Food Borne Risk Factor” violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Old debris on the metal shelf in the walk in cooler and on the shelf next to the preparation cooler. Old debris on the floor and walls of the walk in cooler.
  • The hot water handle at the kitchen hand wash sink by the dishwasher is not working. Kitchen has a second hand wash sink.
  • Observed old dirty wiping cloths on top the kitchen preparation cooler.
  • Floor of the walk in freezer is not a smooth easily cleanable surface.
  • Chlorine chemical sanitizer residual detected in the final sanitizer rinse cycle of the low temperature sanitizing dishwasher was less than 10 ppm, and not 50-200 ppm as required. Service person was phoned and will be here today. Facility will sanitize food contact items in the two bowl kitchen ware wash sink until the dishwasher is fixed.
  • Observed a paint brush and a can of mineral spirits in the basement three bowl ware wash sink. Remove today and clean and sanitize this sink. Corrected.
