The City of Lebanon Board of Health conducted a Type 2 Follow-up food inspection on January 15, 2020. This inspection was a result of failing an inspection in December 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the US Gas on 8th Street was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- Food Employee is not using available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine sanitizer concentration, because the employee was not properly trained by the management.
- An 8-pack of hot dog rolls was being used for self-service hot dogs without any means of preventing contamination by customers such as tongs, deli sheets or using individually wrapped rolls.
- The interior of the microwave, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. The top of the unit is rusted and cannot be properly cleaned.
- Outside dumpster lids are not kept closed. This issue was also observed on 12/20/18, 1/8/19, 2/5/19, 6/27/19 and 9/3/19.
- When asked how food equipment would be washed, the employee showed that the items would be washed in the hand washing sink rather than the 3-compartment sink. This is because the employee was not properly trained by management. Other employees in this facility were previously observed washing food equipment in the hand washing sink.
- Owner of this facility is not ensuring that requirements in the Food Code are being followed as evidenced by not properly training employees and continual repeat violations.
