The Bucks County Department of Health conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 5/28/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Wawa Food Market #8020 was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 1 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Wares are not being properly washed and sanitized in this facility. Wares were washed in 100°F water, rinsed and then bruefly dipped in the 3rd compartment and placed on a drying rack above the sink. Wares are required to be washed in the 1st compartment in a solution of hot water at minimum of 110°F and dish detergent, then rinsed in the middle compartment and then submersed in the 3rd compartment in a solution of water and sanitizer at a concentration and for a period of time that is specified on the manufacturer’s label instructions.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 05/28/2020
  • The plan put in place for self-service beverages in this facility is not being implemented properly. Customers at the island beverage station and at the self-service soda and soft drink stations were observed handling more than 1 lid at a time and putting the extra ones back and also handling/opening creamers, pouring their cream and then replacing the lids, all with their bare hands. Other customers are then handling the lids and creamers with their bare hands. These stations must be monitored by WAWA employees at all times and they must inform the customers at both stations that they are required to use the tissues as a barrier between their bare hands and the lids and creamers.
