The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/10/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Wendy’s Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 12 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in drive through and cook line refrigerator equipment.
  • Hand wash sink in kitchen/ware washing area was not operational due to a broken drain pipe.
  • Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the drive through front counter area. Corrected.
  • Air vent and ceiling/light cover area of the cook line of the food facility is extremely dirty, dusty, and in need of cleaning.
  • Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. Reach in at drive through window has a mold build up around gasket area of door frame.
  • Rear door located in the kitchen area of the food facility has a gap and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals. Fruit flies activity observed at front counter soda fountain drain area.
  • Bottom of walk in cooler has a plastic strip that is bent and allowing for a condensation build up/mold along bottom of door and stagnant condensate water build up on floor corners of door area.
  • Observed wet wiping cloths in cook line area, not being stored in sanitizer solution.
  • The quaternary ammonia concentration in the sanitizing solution of the 3-bay ware wash sink was 0 ppm, rather than 200-400 ppm as stated on the manufacturers use directions. Dispenser is not functioning properly and a service call was placed. Employees will manually dispense sanitizer until repaired.
  • Soap was not available at the handwash sink in the drive through front counter area. Corrected.
  • The water temperature of the wash compartment of the manual ware washing equipment was 102°F, rather than not less than 110°F, as required. Corrected.
  • Food facility ware washing sink has the drain pipe down in the mop sink creating possible backflow of sewage hazard. Bracket holding drain pipe on wall is broken.
