16 violations for McDonald’s in Flourtown; Unprotected overhead sewer line over the bag in the box soda syrup

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 2, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the McDonald’s in Flourtown was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 16 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • (4 times repeat violation)-No current food license posted. 2020 Payment form for duplicate food license emailed at the time of inspection.
  • No ambient thermometer for beverage storage refrigerator at drive-thru service area.
  • Unprotected overhead sewer line over the bag in the box soda syrup in the basement; follow-up pending on or after 1/9/20.
  • Employee clothing hung on single service food packaging boxes in kitchen.
  • Food handlers with no hair restraints-employees complied at the time of inspection.
  • Overhead sewer line observed above the storage shelves of single service utensils in basement; Follow-up pending on or after 1/9/2020.
  • Bulk cream dispenser nozzle cut more than one inch.
  • Piece of exposed fiber insulation material board placed on the left side of ice machine with blue ice scoop placed on it.
  • (2 times repeat violation)-Excess food residue build-up at the blender rinse station of beverage prep counter.
  • 51 – plumbing installed; proper backflow devices

    Comments: Leak at the right-side faucet of 3-compartment sink.

  • Leak at the faucet of hand sink adjacent to ice machine.
  • Basement washer installed in same common area as food and single service storage in basement without proper enclosure of washer as per approved plans during the renovation; follow-up pending on or after 1/9/2020.
  • Damaged and cracked floor tile in walk-in refrigerator.
  • Unfinished partial plywood on the stall enclosure surface in women’s toilet room; provide finish to be smooth, non-absorbent and easily cleanable.
  • Duct tapes on the wall panel at drive-thru service window area.
  • Missing end caps in the basement ceiling fluorescent light fixtures and fluorescent light fixture on counter top beverage refrigerator at drive-thru service not shielded or shatter resistant.
