17 violations; Huntingdon Valley Country Club fails 7th straight inspection going back to December 2016

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on December 17, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Huntingdon Valley Country Club was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 17 violations were found.

Huntingdon Valley Country Club has failed every Health Department inspection going back to December 2016:

  • December 7, 2016- 20 violations
  • August 1, 2017- 15 violations
  • November 27, 2017- 13 violations
  • July 31, 2018- 24 violations
  • December 6, 2018- 14 violations
  • June 26, 2019- 18 violations


The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility observed doing food preparation in an unapproved area across from walk-in refrigerators (near Banquet kitchen). No hand sink available, uncovered overhead pipes. Facility was instructed not to use area and to complete plan review if needed.
  • (Repeat violation) Lacking hand washing sign at hand sink in service station near Toomy Bar.
  • (Repeat violation) A container with utensils observed stored in hand sink basin in A La Carte kitchen. Container removed at time of inspection.
  • Lacking hand soap at hand sink in A La Carte Kitchen. Provided.
  • Detergent and other chemical bottle stored on same shelf as hot sauce and lemon juice bottles (19th hole bar). Removed.
  • Thawing shrimp in standing water at prep sink in Banquet Kitchen. Water was turned on. Thawing shrimp A La Carte kitchen 3-compartment sink, removed.
  • Common name label lacking on secondary dry goods containers (A la Carte kitchen).
  • Boxes of food stored directly on the floor in dairy walk-in refrigerator and freezer.
  • Torn door gasket observed on walk-in refrigerator produce.
  • Lid for dry bulk flour observed with tape (A la Carte kitchen).
  • (Repeat violation) Facility currently has 180F registering temperature stickers for high temp dish machine. Obtain 160F temperature indicators to properly test utensils surface temperature.
  • Black substance accumulation observed on shelves inside 1domestic refrigerator in service station (Toomy bar).
  • White substance accumulation observed on fan guards inside produce walk-in refrigerator.
  • Leak observed at a 4th deep sink in A la Carte kitchen. Inspector will confirm usage of sink after reviewing plans at the office. Provide a work order for repair/completion.
  • (3 times repeat violation) Misplaced and damaged ceiling tiles observed in the banquet kitchen (above bulk dry goods), and food splatters observed on ceiling tiles throughout banquet kitchen.
  • (Repeat violation) Worn and buckling floor observed at cook’s line under/surrounding ovens.
  • Window near dish machine observed covered with plastic material. Chef indicated that window is broken and that it will be fixed.
