18 violations says Health Department of Pho Street in Bryn Mawr; Utensils stored in stagnant water, Clean equipment stored under open staircase

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/13/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Pho Street Vietnamese Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 18 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Expired MCOPH CFSM certificate posted. The facility has 30 days to submit paper work

  • Cutting boards with deep grooves/discoloration

  • Slicer unclean

  • Proper date marking lacking on prepared food items in secondary containers and/or packaging.

  • Torn screen door (allows access to vermin)

  • Food stored in cold units uncovered

  • Foods stored in colanders

  • Food stored on floor walk-in freezer

  • Clean equipment stored under open staircase

  • Food handler lacking hair/beard restraint

  • Wet wiping cloths not stored in a sanitizing solution

  • Utensils stored in containers of stagnant water

  • Tongs stored on oven handles

  • Rusty and unclean racks in basement walk-in refrigerator

  • Torn door gaskets on bain maries

  • Floors under cook line equipment unclean

  • Stained ceiling tiles dining area

  • Filters above cook line equipment unclean
