19 violations for Pauline’s Deli in Norristown; Cleaning products stored among food and/or food contact items

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 6/30/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Pauline’s Deli was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 19 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility lacking sign posted in public view stating MCOPH inspection reports are available upon request.
  • Facility lacks a written procedure for managing a fecal or vomiting incident.
  • Single service paper towels lacking at hand sink.
  • Raw food stored over ready to eat food items in reach in cooler in kitchen.
  • Cutting boards at prep units discolored.
  • Chemical spray bottle lacking label.
  • Cleaning products stored among food and/or food contact items.
  • (2 times repeat violation) Lacking common name label on secondary sugar bin behind front counter.
  • Open can stored in reach-in cooler.
  • Labels lacking on squeeze bottles.
  • Sanitizer lacking at dining counter.
  • Single service containers stored with food contact surface exposed.
  • Deep grooves on cutting boards on shelving unit in kitchen.
  • Paper lining shelves in kitchen.
  • Ice build-up in ice cream freezer.
  • Damaged cove base behind dining counter.
  • (2 times repeat violation) Floor unclean along cooks line.
  • Grease build-up on exhaust hood.
  • Excessive grease build-up behind deep fryers.
