The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/16/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Golden Slipper Camp was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 21 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Food employees observed in kitchen food prep area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets or hats.
  • Ice scoop observed stored in a container of water which is not maintained at 135°F. Scoop to be washed rinsed and sanitized before use.
  • Eggs held at 54°F, in the dish machine table area, rather than 45°F or below as required. Person in charge stated eggs were only placed out 20 minutes prior. Eggs were removed to refrigerated unit for rapid cooling.
  • Single service milk was held at 55 °F, in the dining room area, rather than 41°F or below as required. Person in charge stated milk was only placed out 30 minutes prior. Milk was removed to refrigerated unit for rapid cooling.
  • The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
  • A Food Employee was observed washing their hands at the food prep sink rather than the designated handwash sink.
  • Madvoka in the walk-in cooler area stored open with no covering.
  • Several raw animal foods were stored above ready to eat foods in the upstairs walk-in cooler.
  • Food Employee did not follow proper handwashing procedure. Single use towel or air drying device not used to dry hands.
  • Food Employee did not follow proper handwashing procedure. Soap and/or warm water not used.
  • Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the walk-in cooler, is not being date marked.
  • Juice sink has a hose attachment that is hanging below the flood rim of the sink and not an appropriate air gap.
  • No sign or poster posted at the handwash sink in the kitchen food prep area to remind food employees to wash their hands.
  • Observed approximately 40-50 old rodent droppings on spice room dry storage shelves.
  • Food Employee observed changing tasks that may have contaminated hands without a proper handwash in-between.
  • Food Employee observed donning single use gloves without a prior hand wash.
  • An open employee’s beverage container was observed in food prep table area, a food preparation area.
  • Observed employee rinsing cut ready to eat tomatoes in prep sink with unclean food pans and utensils potentially contaminating the food. Food was voluntarily disposed of at the time of this inspection.
  • Red Sauce mixture Madvoka, was not cooled from 135°F to 70°F in 2 hours and/or from 135°F to 41°F within 6 hours, after preparation. Foods were voluntarily disposed of at the time of this inspection.
  • No drain stoppers available for manual ware wash sinks.
  • Thermometers for ensuring proper temperatures of food are not available or readily accessible.
  • Deli meat slicer blade and guard, a food contact surface, was observed to have old food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
  • Old food residue, dishes and utensils observed in the handwash sink, indicating uses other than handwashing.
  • Soap was not available at the handwash sink in the kitchen food prep area.
  • Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the kitchen food prep area.
