The Montgomery County Health Department conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 1/27/21. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Red House Asian Cuisine was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 21 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Opened employee beverage observed at cook’s line.

  • (8 times repeat violation) Container stored in handwashing sink basin. Handwashing sinks are to be used for handwashing only. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to further legal action.

  • Facility lacking current parasite destruction letter from seafood supplier. Facility granted 24 hours to provide to MCOPH via email or physically during follow-up inspection which will be conducted 01/28/2021.

  • Raw foods stored above ready-to-eat foods in walk-in refrigerator and at prep refrigerator.

  • (4 times repeat violation) Garlic in oil stored at room temperature next to fryers and cook’s line without time temperature log. Facility stated food was prepared at 11AM. Facility must discard remainder of this item by no later than 3PM on 01/27/2021. EHS reviewed all requirements of Time as a Public Health Control Measure. All foods held without temperature control must have log of the time removed from temperature control and the discard time. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to further legal action.

  • Bottle of pesticide spray lacking manufacturer’s label instructions stating use is allowed within a food establishment observed in kitchen near three compartment sink.

  • (4 times repeat violation) Facility sushi rice pH log observed incomplete for previous 10 days. Facility must maintain complete log daily. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to further legal action.

  • Facility observed drying fish on a wire hung above food prep sink. When questioned, the facility stated that these items were for personal use. Facility may not conduct this practice in establishment. The Facility voluntarily removed items from the facility during inspection.

  • Facility observed thawing foods at room temperature. The Facility must thaw all foods under refrigeration, or under constant cool, running water at food prep sink.

  • (14 times repeat violation) Rodent-like droppings observed on perimeter flooring throughout facility. Facility must clean and sanitize all affected areas. A follow-up inspection will be conducted on or after 01/28/2021 to ensure that droppings and dead rodent have been removed. The Facility must be treated by a professional pest control service within 10 business days (due 02/10/2021) . E-mail completed service report to MCOPH at e-mail address provided. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to further legal action.

  • Rear door propped open at time of inspection.

  • (2 times repeat violation ) Facility observed preparing foods at three compartment sink. Facility must use designated food preparation sink for the preparation of foods. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to further legal action.

  • Food containers stored on the floor in kitchen and in walk-in refrigerator. All foods must be elevated a minimum of 6 inches from the floor. Facility elevated items during inspection.

  • Employee clothing stored on dry storage shelving in contact with packaged food product(s). Facility relocated belongings during inspection.

  • Cleaver stored in crevice at food prep table.

  • (3 times repeat violation) Open can of food observed stored in walk-in refrigerator. Upon opening canned food products, the products must be used in their entirety or the remainder must be transferred to a food grade container. Cans may not be re-used for storage. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to further legal action.

  • Frost accumulation observed in 2 door reach-in refrigerator near entrance of facility.

  • Shipping film observed on exterior of steam table. Remove.

  • Interior of microwaves observed unclean.

  • Interior of smoker observed unclean at time of inspection. The Facility stated that the unit was last used Monday, 01/25/2021.

  • Mop not hung/inverted to dry following use.
