22 violations at Bridgeport Deli; Lacking soap at hand sink, Bottles of cleaning product stored among pots, Grease pan dripping onto wall

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/13/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Bridgeport Deli was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 22 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Current MCOPH license not posted at time of inspection.

  • Lacking single service towels for hand sink.

  • 1Facility lacking soap at hand sink.

  • Date marking lacking on food containers in refrigeration.

  • Bottles of cleaning product stored among pots on shelves.

  • Common name label lacking on squeeze bottles at cooks line and throughout facility.

  • Front and back doors propped open on arrival. (allows access to vermin)

  • Prep table/deli slicer too close to hand wash sink. Facility moved table.

  • Dirty dishes in food prep sink.

  • Employee shoes stored under food prep table at cooks line.

  • Wash before consuming sign lacking on loose apples at self-service unit.

  • Clean dishes/utensils stored on unclean drying rack.

  • Cardboard and aluminum foil lining multiple shelves.

  • Reach-in freezer draining into bucket on floor.

  • Interior of two microwaves unclean.

  • Exterior of prep units at cooks line unclean.

  • Bottom shelf of food prep table unclean.

  • Door gaskets on reach-in freezer unclean. Mold-like growth visible.

  • Grease build-up on wall and floor behind cooks line.

  • Mop not stored hanging or inverted to dry.

  • Grease pan dripping onto wall at cooks line.

  • Insufficient lighting in freezer units in back area.
