The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/24/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Los Potrillos Taqueria was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 22 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility lacking a current MCOPH CFSM. Facility has 30 business days to submit reciprocity application or submit proof of registration in an approved food safety course.

  • Employee drink stored on shelf with food items.

  • The manufacture’s and/or processor’s label provided with food products fails to comply with all current Federal, State, and Local Labeling Laws as specified in MC Public Health Code. Multiple single-serve beverages labeled in Spanish only.

  • Pre-packaged cake observed with mold-like growth. Facility voluntarily discarded.

  • Food uncovered throughout refrigeration units.

  • Sliced radishes in ice bath measuring 55F.

  • 3 times repeat violation: Date marking lacking on food containers in refrigeration.

  • Multiple spray bottles of cleaning product stored among food items.

  • Employee personal care items stored among food.

  • Container of 3-in-1 oil stored on food shelf.

  • Multiple bottles of Raid observed in facility

  • Fly-like insects observed throughout facility. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH.

  • Side door open at time of inspection. (allows access to vermin)

  • Food stored under stairs in dry storage.

  • Ice build-up in ice cream freezer.

  • Cardboard/foil/ lining shelves.

  • Improper set-up of 3-bay ware washing sink. Inspector explained proper set-up.

  • Wire rack under deep fryer unclean.

  • 4Door gasket of walk-in cooler unclean.

  • Dust build-up on fan guards in Canada Dry cooler.

  • Rest room door open at time of inspection.

  • 2 times repeat violation: Grease build-up on hood filters along cooks line.
