22 violations at Paradise Pizza in Audobon; Open bag of flour stored in non-food grade container, Baseball cap stored with food items

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/30/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Paradise Pizza was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 22 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Inspection request signage not posted at time of inspection.

  • Facility is lacking a written vomit/fecal incident procedure at time of inspection.

  • Lacking single service towels for hand sink at cooks line and behind counter.

  • 1-gallon container of milk with sell-by date of 7/27/20. Facility voluntarily discarded.

  • Raw food stored over ready to eat food items in 4-drawer cooler under flat top.

  • Splash guard of ice machine unclean. Clean and sanitize according to owner’s manual.

  • Cutting board with heavy discoloration at cooks line.

  • Deli slicer unclean.

  • Date marking lacking on secondary food containers in walk-in freezer.

  • Bottle of Windex stored on dry goods shelf among food items.

  • Facility lacking visible accurate thermometer in prep unit at cooks line.

  • Common name label lacking on secondary containers in walk-in freezer.

  • Dry goods stored in uncovered secondary containers. Dry goods stored in open original bags. Open bag of flour stored in non-food grade plastic container.

  • Containers/boxes of food stored on floor in dry goods storage area and in walk-in freezer.

  • Baseball cap stored on dry goods shelf with food items.

  • Knives stored in space between prep unit and counter. Knife stored inside prep unit.

  • Torn door gasket observed on door of walk-in freezer.

  • Foil liner under burners at cooks line.

  • Food stored in opened and original can in prep unit.

  • Lacking test strips for quaternary sanitizer.

  • Floor unclean under cooks line equipment.

  • Grease build-up on hood filters along cooks line. Facility is due for cleaning by end of July 2020.
