22 violations at Pub Deli in Norristown; Fly-like insects observed throughout facility, Ice cream scoop stored in stagnant water, Food debris build-up on food slicer

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/13/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Pub Deli was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 22 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Dented can of tomatoes on shelf in back storage area.
  • Food debris build-up on food slicer.
  • TCS foods left out on prep surface. Food items below 41F. Facility returned to refrigeration.
  • Date marking lacking on food containers in refrigeration.
  • Bottle of cleaning agent stored on top of deli slicer.
  • Common name label lacking on squeeze bottles at cooks line.
  • Common name labels lacking on food containers in prep unit.
  • Dry goods bin lacking label.
  • Fly-like insects observed throughout facility. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH.
  • Dry goods bin lacking cover.
  • Employee personal items stored on clean wares above warewashing sink.
  • Cheddar cheese sauce stored in open original can in prep unit.
  • Wet wiping cloths not stored in a sanitizing solution.
  • 2 times repeat violation: Ice cream scoop stored in stagnant water.
  • Bowl/cup used as scoop stored obtain dry goods/food items.
  • Damaged door gasket on walk-in beverage cooler in front of store and 1-door freezer in kitchen.
  • Facility using raw wood to line shelves in storage area in back of facility.
  • Cardboard shelf liner at end of cooks line.
  • Facility wrapping cloth around drain line coming from 3-bay ware washing sink. Cloth unclean.
  • 4Rack above 3-bay ware washing sink unclean.
  • Dust build-up on ceiling in walk-in beverage cooler in front of facility.
  • Mold-like growth on outside of horseradish container in prep unit.
