23 violations at Ginos Ristorante in West Norriton; Fly-like insects observed throughout facility, Interior of ice maker unclean

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/10/2020 after receiving a complaint about the restaurant. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Ginos Pizza Ristorante was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 23 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility is lacking a written vomit/fecal incident procedure at time of inspection.

  • Employee handled ready to eat food with bare hands.

  • Hand washing sign lacking at two hand sinks.

  • Cutting board at prep unit with deep grooves and heavy discoloration.

  • Interior of ice maker unclean.

  • Date marking lacking on food containers in refrigeration.

  • Chemical spray bottle lacking label at cooks line.

  • Facility lacking visible accurate thermometers in several cold units.

  • Fly-like insects observed throughout facility. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH.

  • Containers of food stored on floor in walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer.

  • Food stored in open aluminum cans.

  • Bowl used as scoop stored obtain dry goods items.

  • Knife stored in space between prep unit and counter.

  • Single service containers stored with food contact surface exposed.

  • Aluminum foil lining drip trays of burners.

  • Dust build-up on ceiling tiles adjacent to vent above prep unit.

  • Dust build-up on gas line of Vulcan oven.

  • Exterior of deep fryer unclean.

  • Interior of salad prep unit unclean.

  • Dust build-up on condenser of ice maker. Cover missing.

  • Leak at drain of food prep sink. Facility must provide MCOPH with repair work order within five business days. Fax to 610-578-5167.

  • Reach-in freezer draining to bucket on floor. All drain lines must be plumbed into approved waste water line.

  • Mop not stored hanging or inverted to dry.
