The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7-9-2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the McDonald’s Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 9 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Ceiling tiles missing in the rear kitchen area, and need replaced. Tiles were removed for maintenance work and not replaced when not doing work.
  • Drain under front counter coffee/juice station is backed up creating a stagnant water puddle and foul odor issue.
  • Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. Gaskets and door frame area of reach in frappe refrigerator have a mold build up and must be cleaned.
  • Rear door located in the storage area of the food facility has a gap at side and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals.
  • Not enough drainboards, utensil racks, or tables to allow for storage of soiled and/or cleaned items before and after cleaning as evidenced by racks of dirty dishes on floor.
  • Observed Frappe mixer, sure shot creamer and drive thru soda fountain equipment, in front/drive thru area, with an accumulation of mold/food residue, debris on splash guard areas around nozzles and gasket areas. Corrected.
  • Wire racks for clean dishes in ware washing room are rusted and must be refinished/replaced.
  • Water, as observed at hand wash sink in the warewashing area, is not under pressure during inspection due to a leaking faucet that must be repaired.
