Ardmore’s Bella Italia blows inspection, “Dead roach like insects observed”, Cat in carrier, 12 violations

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on December 2, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Bella Italia in Ardmore was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 12 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Raw shelled eggs stored over RTE food items in walk-in refrigerator.

  • Can opener piercing point unclean.

  • Lacking date marking for open packages of food.

  • Lacking visible accurate thermometers in refrigeration units.

  • Dead roach like insets observed on floor in back area near door. Clean and sanitize area. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH

  • Cat observed in carrier in beer storage room in dining area.

  • Personal items stored on dry storage rack.

  • Ice scoop stored directly in ice machine.

  • Inside of pizza prep unit unclean.

  • 2xR- Missing damaged ceiling tile in back prep room.

  • Wet mop head stored in mop bucket.

  • Floor under grease deep fryer unclean.
