The Montgomery County Health Department conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 1/25/21. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Bhagya’s Kitchen was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 3 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • (6 times repeat violation) facility lacking approved discard dates for prepared and TCS food items. Facility instructed that approved dates markings for TCS food items prepared or packaging has been pierced not meant for use within 24hrs should include a discard date not to exceed seven days after the item has been prepared or the packaging has been pierced.

  • Facility cooling items in covered containers at retail display case and reach in cooler at back prep area. items observed above an approved cold holding temperature but within an approved time frame for cooling. EHS discussed approved rapid chilling techniques during time of inspection – items relocated to reach in freezer.

  • (6 times repeat violation) prepackaged food containers stored in retail refrigerator lacking approved labeling information. Facility stated items were for wholesale and labels would be attached by that facility. EHS discussed approved labeling criteria during time of inspection. EHS provided the facility with date marking, labeling documentation via email during time of inspection.

  • Food handler lacking approved face coverings during prep upon EHS arriving for inspection. Facility immediately donned approved mask/face coverings
