The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 2, 2020.*  As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Hibachi Grill & Century Buffet Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 9 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Meat and Shrimps food observed thawing at room temperature on the Prep Sink, which is not an approved thawing method. Corrected
  • Meat slicer and Can openers, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
  • Ceiling tiles missing above soda dispenser right side area, and need replaced.
  • Loose rubber door gaskets observed on the cook lines all cooling units.
  • Black filth, pink slime observed on the interior of the ice machines (2/2) bin and around water distribution tubing and freeze plate. DO NOT USE. Please empty ice machine COMPLETELY!! Wash, Rinse and Sanitize all parts and allow to air dry before refilling.
  • Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food ( soups , eggs rolls, rice, noodles, Chicken) prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the M3 / Beverages air Turbo refrigerators, is not being date marked.
  • Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in Walk in cooler and cook line cold hold units.
  • Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. Observed some grease accumulation/food debris located on floors below all three deep fryer and on the walls adjacent to the dish washer.
  • Plumbing system not maintained in good repair – observed faucet leaking on the right side of the sushi hibachi area.
