The Bucks County Department of Health conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 5/13/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Boston Market was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 5 violations were found.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer this inspection is one of 15 the Boston Market last passing an inspection on November 12, 2014. Prior to that inspection failed 6 inspections going back to May 11, 2012.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- There is no food safety manager certified by this Department (CFSM) on duty as required. A CFSM must be on duty at all times the facility is open and/or food is being prepared. A completed application (SA-71)for CFSM, or proof of enrollment in an approved safety class must be submitted to the Department. Repeat Violation.
- Whole cooked chickens in the walk-in cooler were found uncovered. All products in refrigeration must be covered to prevent contamination. Food worker covered during inspection. Corrected On-Site. New Violation.
- In-use utensils were found being stored in standing, room-temperature water (71°F) on the prep table nearest the elevator. During pauses in food preparation or dispensing, food preparation or dispensing utensils may be stored in a container of water if the water is maintained at a temperature of at least 135°F. Manager corrected during inspection. Corrected On-Site. Repeat Violation. (To prevent bacteria growth water must be at least 135°F)
- Floor tiles (cracked/missing) and grouting (deteriorating) in ware washing and floor drain area are not easily cleanable. Repair/replace affected tiles/grout. New Violation. To be Corrected By: 06/30/2020
- The floor drain below the basement prep sink contains an accumulation of a black, mold-like substance. Detail clean and sanitize. New Violation. To be Corrected By: 05/20/2020
